True Detective is an hour long anthology style crime drama produced by HBO. Naturally, since it is made by Home Box Office, it has a big budget, top writers and talent and the first season stars Oscar winner/nominees Woody Harrelson and Mathew McConaughey. Season one follows the two detectives as they try to find a serial killer who is kidnapping and murdering women in rural Louisiana. The investigation is revealed through flashbacks and told in present time interviews of each detective.
Even though the writing in True Detective is top notch, it still has many of the movie cop cliches and TV tropes. I’m specifically thinking of the one with the older cop cheating on his wife with the hot young department employee. Enter Alexandra Daddario. Alexandra Daddario plays Woody’s extramarital hook up and she is introduced to us early in the first episode when Woody’s character drunk dials her and goes to her house in the middle of the night. The sex scene starts almost immediately after Alexandra Daddario opens the door.
From the moment she answers the front door Alexandra Daddario is wearing a long white t-shirt and white panties and nothing else. You can see Alexandra Daddario’s nipples and her boobs bouncing through her shirt as she goes to the kitchen to get drinks. Alexandra Daddario brings the drinks over to the coffee table in front of where Woody is sitting and when she bends over to put them down, he starts feeling her ass and pulls her panties off.
After he pulls down Alexandra Daddario’s panties she turns around and straddles Woody. While Alexandra Daddario is climbing on top of him nude from the waist down we get a nice shot between her legs. Then she feeds him a quick drink and then Alexandra Daddario stands up and takes off her shirt. There is a nice shot of Alexandra Daddario’s ass and hanging tits as she bends over in front of her characters romantic interest.
Then Alexandra Daddario walks back over to Woody who is still sitting on the couch and straddles him again, this time completely nude. A completely naked Alexandra Daddario grinds up and down on his lap while making out with him for a couple seconds. True Detective isn’t especially focused on sex or nudity like some other HBO programs and as sex scenes go, this one isn’t especially long or graphic, but since it is Alexandra Daddario it is one of the hottest sex scenes put on film in recent years.
As I said before True Detective is an anthology series so Alexandra Daddario only appears in a few episodes in the first season and then each season has a completely different cast. On Alexandra Daddario’s season she shares the screen with actors Erin Moriarty, Lily Simmons, and Michelle Monaghan. The Season 2 cast of True Detective features Abigail Spencer, Adria Arjona, Leven Rambin, Lolita Davidovich and Rachel McAdams. Of both seasons of True Detective, Alexandra Daddario has by far the hottest sex scene.
All in all True Detective is a well done slow moving character study that just wasn’t exciting (in every meaning of the word) enough to hold my interest. True Detective is not in the vein of Game of Thrones or any of HBO’s late night shows and Alexandra Daddario’s nude sex scene was more of a bug and not a feature. The first season of True Detective (the one with Alexandra Daddario) had a better story than the second season. But the second season of True Detective had a much deeper cast.
